
The Miscellaneous Youth Network (MYN) was created to provide and increase education, support and resources with regards to and for gay, bisexual, lesbian, queer, questioning, two-spirited and transidentified (GBLQQTT) youth and the community through youth friendly gatherings and educational programs.

The MYN AGM is being held November 29th at 1:00pm at Outlink. This is an open invitation event to all members of the GBLQQTT communities. Come out to show support for this youth focused organization. We're shifting to a governing board and looking for community members with Not for Profit experience to fill the positions.

Another successful Fake Mustache Show this month! We are so happy to see the turn-out increase again after a bit of a lull for August and September. We know people were finishing vacations and then getting into the swing of Back to Work, Back to School.
Well, the Fall is here but that doesn't mean your time has to be consumed by school!
Tonight there's a FREE screening of some short films from the Youth Animation Project at the Plaza Theatre in Kensington. The theatre opens at 6:00 and the screening begins at 7:00. There's an after party at the Quickdraw Animation Society (11th Ave and 4th Street S.W.) following the screening, which, did I mention, is FREE?
Calgary needs a Gay Hangout is back in the swing of things and the last gathering at Weeds Cafe was a complete success! The turn-out was incredible and it looks like we may have found a fantastic regular space for the gatherings. Auditions will continue on, however, so keep watching that Facebook group!
Queers on Campus (Formerly GLASS) continues their Tuesday coffee nights at the 2nd Cup in Kensington. 7:00pm Tuesdays.
The Mount Royal College Positive Space Group is holding a free mixer on Thursday, October 16th from 4 - 7pm at the Liberty Lounge.
Jasmine Ing is conducting a study on how TV and movies affect queer women and their identities. If you are a queer woman over the age of 18 and want to participate e-mail queervisions@gmail.com
The Chrysalis Project is a community based arts project for GBLQT identified individuals aged 25 and under. Inside Out Youth Group and the Miscellaneous Youth Network are happy to be providing a unique social space for members of these communities to express themselves artistically. New Community Partners:
The Miscellaneous youth Network strives to create a stronger sense of community by working with many different organizations in the city and Province. We're very happy to announce a new partnership with both AIDS Calgary and Urban Youth Worx!
Sunday, September 28th is the CJSW Volunteer Appreciation Party at Bowness Park (8900, 48th Ave N.W. Shelter #4) from noon - 4:00pm.
The Fake Mustache announcement just went out! We're very excited about how Halloween-esque show and we hope to see you the First Thursday in October.
Thursday October 9th the Youth Animation Project presents the latest short film collection produced through this unique program. The FREE screening is being held at the Plaza Theatre on Kensington Road. Doors open at 6:00 with the films screening at 7:00. Following the screening there will be a Q and A session with the film creators and an After Party at the Quickdraw Animation Society (4th Street and 11th Ave S.W., behind the Mongolie Grill.).
Auditions for a GBLQT Hangout are currently on hold due to a family loss. Our thoughts are with John. I'm sure we all look forward to seeing his smiling face again at these brilliant social gatherings he's been working so hard to orchestrate.
Write it in your calendars!: Fairytales will be screening from May 29th - June 4th.
The dates for Camp fYrefly are also chosen but slip my mind at the moment. I'll have them to you int he next general update e-mail.

Hi!
First off, updates will go out on Thursdays instead of Fridays and will be done every two weeks from now on unless there's reason to throw an extra one in there.
We have a lot of exciting news!
The Board has decided to take on the Laramie Project and we are currently seeking funding and partners to help us present this performance in the Spring. We'll keep you posted as we delve into the project more.
This October we are partnering with the Inside Out Youth group and Urban Youth Worx to create a public art piece created by GBLQT community members aged 14 - 24. We are very excited to announce that we will be funded by the Youthscape grant offered through Child and Youth Friendly Calgary. As more funding is confirmed we will begin official promotion of the event and open it up to participants. Further details will be released int he next week through our website and over Facebook.
This Sunday is our Volunteer Appreciation BBQ. We'd like to thank all our incredible volunteers for giving so much to the community. your time is appreciated! Without you we would not have all the success we do.
Calgary needs a LGBT Hangout is doing super well! The last get together was last night at Cafe Beano. More meetings are in the works. Keep in the know through the events page of our website (www.miscyouth.ca) or through the Calgary Needs a Gay hangout Facebook Group.
This Saturday at 7:30 is Take Back The Night. It begins at the Caughnaut School on 12th Ave and 7th Street S.W.
The October 2008 issue of gibble.kit nears completion and will be available at the Fake Mustache Halloween Drag Show on October 2nd. There is still room for one or two submissions so if you have a poem/story/essay 500 words or less or some art you'd like to share send it by e-mail to headsup@miscyouth.ca today and you'll get published!!!
As usual, Inside Out Youth Group meets on Mondays from 7-9 at the Outlink centre for gender and sexual diversity.
